 SENATE RESOLUTION

8681

By Senators Hunt, Hasegawa, Stanford, and Wagoner

WHEREAS, Children are the foundation of our communities and the promise of Washington state's future, bringing curiosity, energy, and fresh perspectives that inspire and strengthen our democracy; and

WHEREAS, Civic engagement is fundamental to a thriving democracy, and we commend the young leaders who have demonstrated not only enthusiasm to learn but also the courage to ask questions, share ideas, and participate in civic life, fostering a culture of active citizenship that will strengthen our state for generations to come; and

WHEREAS, Good governance depends on the curiosity, creativity, and insight of our youth, and nurturing these qualities ensures that Washington will continue to benefit from innovative solutions, fresh perspectives, and the bold ideas of a generation willing to tackle complex problems with integrity, compassion, and resilience; and

WHEREAS, Children provide not only a window into our future but also a mirror reflecting our past and the lessons we have learned along the way, reminding us of the values that define our communities, the diversity that strengthens our society, and the hope, optimism, and courage that inspire all who call Washington home; and

WHEREAS, The Senate acknowledges that pathways to opportunity, learning, and success for every child in our state, regardless of race, religion, creed, income, or background ensures their success and fosters an environment where all children feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential; and

WHEREAS, Adults bear the responsibility to instill in this next generation empathy, compassion, and a sense of social responsibility, encouraging them to care for one another, embrace diversity, and work collectively toward a society that is inclusive, just, and welcoming to every Washingtonian; and

WHEREAS, The Senate recognizes that investing in children is an investment in the long-term health, prosperity, and vibrancy of our communities, and that every opportunity to educate, support, and uplift our youth strengthens the foundation of our democracy and ensures a brighter future for all; and

WHEREAS, We are honored to witness the next generation of leaders take their first steps into public life, confident that these children have the support, encouragement, and faith of this legislative body as they begin to navigate the complex challenges ahead, discover their voices, develop their talents, and learn the power of thoughtful, engaged, and informed participation in shaping the world around them;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Senate celebrate all children, recognize their curiosity, courage, and potential, and be inspired by the engagement, creativity, and contributions they have shown and will continue to show in the years ahead; and
