BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON, IN LEGISLATIVE SESSION ASSEMBLED:

THAT, At the next general election to be held in this state the secretary of state shall submit to the qualified voters of the state for their approval and ratification, or rejection, an amendment to Article II, section 7 of the Constitution of the state of Washington to read as follows:

Article II, section 7. (( No person shall be eligible to the legislature who shall not be a citizen of the United States and a qualified voter in the district for which he is chosen. )) (1) A person filing for candidacy for the legislature, or seeking appointment in case of a vacancy, is eligible for election, appointment, holding office, and remaining in office only if that person:

(a) Is a citizen of the United States of America;
