AN ACT Relating to prearrangement funeral services; amending RCW 18.39.010 and 18.39.250 ; and creating a new section.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. The legislature finds that a prearrangement funeral service allows a person to prepare for, plan, and purchase their funeral service in advance so that their funeral preferences are honored. Many families face difficult decisions upon a loved one's passing. The legislature finds that making and paying for one's own final wishes can relieve the emotional decisions and financial hardships around funeral services that are typically placed on families. Therefore, the legislature recognizes the benefit and need for prearrangement funeral services and intends to modernize the requirements placed upon funeral establishments who offer prearrangement funeral services.

Sec. 2. RCW 18.39.010 and 2019 c 432 s 36 are each amended to read as follows:
