WHEREAS, The International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's T20 World Cup brought together the world's leading cricketing nations in one of the sport's premier international competitions; and

WHEREAS, The United States Men's National Cricket Team competed with distinction on the global stage, reflecting the continued growth of cricket within the United States; and

WHEREAS, Bellevue, Washington resident Shadley Van Schalkwyk delivered an exceptional individual performance during the tournament's group phase, finishing the group stage as the leading wicket-taker among all participating players; and

WHEREAS, Leading the tournament in wickets required dismissing some of the most accomplished batters in international cricket and demonstrated extraordinary skill, discipline, and competitive excellence; and

WHEREAS, The ICC Men's T20 World Cup is followed by hundreds of millions of fans worldwide, making this achievement a matter of international recognition and pride; and

WHEREAS, Washington state's growing diversity and global engagement are reflected in the expanding popularity of international sports such as cricket within our communities; and

WHEREAS, Cricket participation and youth development programs in Washington state continue to expand, reflecting the sport's growing presence and community impact across the region; and

WHEREAS, The accomplishments of Shadley Van Schalkwyk bring distinction to the City of Bellevue, to Washington state, and to the United States, while inspiring young athletes across our region;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House of Representatives recognize and honor Shadley Van Schalkwyk for his outstanding performance representing the United States in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and for his contributions to the growth of cricket in Washington state and throughout the nation.
