WHEREAS, Robert Steven Masko was born on October 28, 1954, in Tacoma, Washington, and was a lifelong resident of Pierce county who dedicated his life to service, family, and community; and

WHEREAS, Robert Masko graduated from Wilson High School in 1973 and earned a degree in criminal justice from Washington State University in 1977, reflecting an early and enduring commitment to public service; and

WHEREAS, Robert Masko devoted nearly four decades to law enforcement with the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, serving honorably for 37 years and retiring as undersheriff, where he was widely respected as a leader, mentor, and public servant known for integrity, compassion, and professionalism; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Robert Masko treated every person with dignity and worked tirelessly to protect and strengthen the communities he served; and

WHEREAS, Beyond his professional service, Robert Masko gave generously of his time as a Fircrest City Councilmember and through leadership and volunteer roles, including Law Enforcement Youth Camp Director, Civil Service Commissioner, youth group leader, youth sports coach, and local credit union board member and chair; and

WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Robert Masko continued his commitment to community service through work supporting a local law enforcement nonprofit, the Fircrest Civil Service Oral Board, the University Place Public Safety Advisory Commission, his homeowners association, and numerous other local efforts; and

WHEREAS, Robert Masko worked diligently to secure new playground equipment at Masko Park, leaving a lasting legacy for children and families in the community; and

WHEREAS, Robert Masko was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose warmth, humor, and generosity touched all who knew him; and

WHEREAS, Robert Masko passed away on September 13, 2025, at the age of 70, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of service, leadership, and community devotion that will endure for generations;
