AN ACT Relating to unexpected fatalities of residents of department of social and health services facilities; amending RCW 43.382.005 ; adding a new section to chapter 43.20A RCW; adding a new section to chapter 43.382 RCW; and creating a new section.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 43.20A RCW to read as follows:

(1)(a) The department shall conduct an unexpected fatality review upon the unexpected fatality of any resident of a department facility or in any case identified for an unexpected fatality review by the office of the developmental disabilities ombuds or the office of the patient rights ombuds.
