AN ACT Relating to representation within the governing body of a public transportation benefit area; amending RCW 36.57A.050 ; creating a new section; repealing RCW 47.66.170 ; and declaring an emergency.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A 2025 change to state law started a kerfuffle related to the composition of the governing body of a public transportation benefit area that remains unresolved. State law fails to provide flexibility for a community to choose a more equitable distribution of board representation in accordance with community recommendations.

Sec. 2. RCW 36.57A.050 and 2025 c 230 s 1 are each amended to read as follows:
