AN ACT Relating to requiring notices to employees when electronic monitoring is used to assist employers conducting performance evaluations; adding a new chapter to Title 49 RCW; prescribing penalties; and providing an effective date.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. The following definitions apply throughout this chapter unless the context clearly requires otherwise:

(1) "Artificial intelligence" means an engineered or machine-based system that can, for a given set of objectives, generate outputs such as predictions, recommendations, or decisions influencing real or virtual environments. Artificial intelligence systems can be designed to operate with varying levels of autonomy.
