SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 2055

Celebrating the life of Knight.

Agreed to by the Senate, June 22, 2026

WHEREAS, Knight, a beloved K-9 law-enforcement officer with the Chesterfield County Police Department, died in the line of duty on May 31, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Knight was a German Shepherd and Malinois mix breed from Slovakia who faithfully served alongside his handler, Corporal John Walsh of the Chesterfield County Police Department, for the past four years; and

WHEREAS, Knight and Corporal Walsh shared an unbreakable bond built on trust, loyalty, and an unwavering commitment to protecting the Chesterfield County community; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career with the Chesterfield County Police Department, Knight was vital to many operations, supporting the tracking and apprehension of suspects and enabling law-enforcement officers to effectively carry out their mission and return safely to their families; and

WHEREAS, Knight was named after the knights of medieval times, who were known for their honor, bravery, and devotion to protecting others, and he lived up to this name in all of his endeavors as an officer; and

WHEREAS, Knight's legacy will be celebrated and carried forward by the members of the Chesterfield County Police Department with whom he served and by the community he helped protect; and
