SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 91
Commending the George Wythe High School boys' basketball team.

WHEREAS, the George Wythe High School boys' basketball team capped off the 2024–2025 season with a victory in the Virginia High School League Class 1 state championship; and
WHEREAS, the George Wythe High School Maroons finished the regular season as Mountain Empire District champions and subsequently won the district and regional tournaments; and
WHEREAS, in the state tournament, the George Wythe Maroons defeated a talented team from Patrick Henry High School in the semifinal by a score of 82–54, to advance to the Class 1 final in Richmond on March 14, 2025; and
WHEREAS, the George Wythe Maroons soundly defeated the Franklin High School Broncos by a score of 77–38 to claim the state crown and finish the season with a 27–4 record; and
WHEREAS, the successful season was a tribute to the skill and hard work of all the student-athletes: Cayden Bement, Micah Braxton, Rex Delp, David Goode, Shane Huff, Kaden Irby, Reed Kirtner, Holden Luttrell, Brayden Rainey, Treyvon Rainey, T.J. Reddick, and Zeshawn Thomas; and
