Celebrating the life of Everette Alexander Hicks, Sr.

WHEREAS, Everette Alexander Hicks, Sr., an honorable veteran, esteemed educator, distinguished public servant, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and cherished member of the Newport News community, died on May 31, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Everette Alexander “Teddy” Hicks, Sr., graduated from the historic George Washington Carver High School in Hampton Roads before joining the United States Army and serving his country with honor and distinction in both the United States and Korea; and
WHEREAS, following his service, Teddy Hicks earned a bachelor's degree in 1961 from what is today Norfolk State University and then a master's degree from what would become Hampton University; and
