WHEREAS, John Spiak, athletic director of New Kent High School, was elected by his fellow regional high school athletic directors as the Virginia High School League Region 3A Athletic Director of the Year for the 2024–2025 academic year; and
WHEREAS, John Spiak began his tenure at New Kent High School more than 14 years ago as a science teacher; he served as coach of the boys' and girls' indoor and outdoor track and field teams and cross country teams, before taking on the role of athletic director; and
WHEREAS, early in his career, John Spiak was inspired by the respectful demeanor of an opposing coach and has since made it a priority to warmly greet opposing players and coaches to foster a positive environment for both teams; and
