AN ACT relating to organ donation safety.
WHEREAS, an organ donation is a remarkable and life-saving gift that allows thousands of individuals each
year to receive life-sustaining transplants and offers hope to patients and families awaiting organs; and
WHEREAS, the success of the organ donation and transplant system depends upon public trust, transparency,
and strict adherence to ethical and clinical standards that prioritize patient safety and human dignity; and
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Health and Human Services through the Health Resources and
Services Administration has announced major reforms to strengthen oversight of the national organ procurement
